The Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 lags behind the Michelin X-Ice Xi2 (*Est. $100) when experts test studless tires on harsh winter roads; the Michelin is by far the critics' favorite. However, people who own the Blizzak WS60 argue it is still unsurpassed on snow and ice. Like most severe winter tires, neither the Blizzak nor the Michelin X-Ice Xi2 gets very good grip on wet or dry roads. Experts and users say the Michelin is quieter, more comfortable, more durable and has lower rolling resistance (which can mean better gas mileage) than the WS60.
Plenty of expert sources rate the Bridgestone Blizzak WS60. ConsumerReports.org compares it with rivals in head-to-head tests, and Autos.ca's in-depth review does the best job describing its performance in detail. Experts at the Toronto Star's Wheels.ca and retail website TireRack.com all recommend the tire but with very little explanation. TireRack.com also posts hundreds of customer reviews for the WS60, some of which are very detailed. Most of the owner reviews at Epinions.com are older.
