Solid and works well, March 15, 2009

This is a good large room heater. Solid construction and the remote is a nice touch. I have one major issue however. The thermostat seems to be located in an area of the heater where it will get warmed up by the heater itself. What this means is that the room might be 70 degrees but the heater reads 73 degrees. It's a small nuisance, we overcome it by setting it higher or running the fan only for a minute and then switching back to heat. The fan then heat trick proves that the thermostat is getting hot from the heater itself and is therefore not accurate.

Disappointing Performance, January 17, 2009
This heater has one good quality--it is quiet. Unfortunately, the thing it does not do well is heat. At the HI setting there was just the barest zephyr of warm air coming out, perhaps the unit was defective. There seems to be just one loop of wire heating element that just does not seem adequate to heat any size room. Units costing a small fraction of the Vornado perform as well or better.
Nice heater, January 6, 2009
Works just as well as those big fireplace looking units but costs alot less. I'm very pleased with it.
Burning smell, December 16, 2008

This space heater worked great for last winter. This year, I turn it on and it almost immediately sets off my fire alarm. There was a scary burning smell. I've found that the smell doesn't happen when the heater in is "low" mode, but then my room heats up very slowly if at all. Plus, I am nervously smelling the air every five minutes. Also, the room temp always stays at 65 even when my room is definitely colder. This means that the heater will shut off before you want it to. This product was way too expensive to only work for one season (I live in Los Angeles, so it wasn't even used very heavily), and life is way too short for possible fire hazards. I would not recommend it.

Not as expected, December 15, 2008

I've been a big fan of Vornado products, have two of their fans and have had one of their space heaters in the past. The first heater I purchased was perfect, but I had to return this one to Amazon because it arrived with a very inaccurate temperature gauge, off by 8 degrees according to a very accurate room thermometer; that was an important feature for me. The remote worked very well even when not aiming directly at the heater. Instead of getting a replacement, I ordered a Lasko like one I already have that runs very quitely. The Vornado made a very loud clicking noise when cycling on and off that I found annoying.

One owner says the heater is so quiet that she can't hear when it's on or off but finds the thermostat off by two to four degrees.
