The Infiniti G35 is a high-end sedan that reviews say sits somewhere between a conventional family sedan and a more luxurious sports sedan. In addition to offering plenty of standard luxury and convenience features in its cabin, the G35's handling is outstanding. Reviews say the 306-horsepower V-6 is potent, and the G35 offers manual and automatic transmissions and optional AWD. On the negative side, the G35's ride may be too firm and harsh for some, especially with the sport package's 18-inch wheels. In addition, the 14-cubic-foot trunk is smaller than average, and the rear seat back does not fold to expand the capacity. Reviewers consistently compare the Infiniti G35 to the benchmark BMW 3 Series (*est. $32,700 to $53,800), and almost all say the G35 comes impressively close. For a smoother, quieter ride, some reviews recommend the Cadillac CTS (*est. $33,675 to $35,975).

Edmunds.com offers a thorough comparison of five similarly equipped sports sedans, including the Infiniti G35. CNet.com gives a good recap of the G35's sophisticated electronics, and ConsumerGuide.com, AOL Autos and Automobile Magazine all name the G35 as one of their top picks.

1. Edmunds.com

This test compares five competing six-cylinder sports sedans: the 2008 Cadillac CTS, the 2008 Lexus IS 350, the 2008 Mercedes C350, the 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport and the 2007 BMW 335i. (Both of the 2007 models have very few changes for 2008.) Editors use a 31-point evaluation, plus weighted scoring according to price, performance and features. The BMW offers the best all-around performance, but the Infiniti wins because of its drivability and value.
