The Timex Ironman Road Trainer Digital HRM is a well-reviewed basic sports watch that offers a little something extra -- a chest-strap heart-rate monitor. Outside magazine calls it a "killer value," and other reviewers agree that this running watch is a great deal. It features a 100-hour chronograph to record total workout time and laps or splits, in addition to a countdown timer and alarm. The heart rate monitor provides continuous readings with a chest strap, and the sports watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters. In addition to value, reviewers say the Timex Ironman Road Trainer sports watch is easy to use and requires minimal setup time. However, it doesn't track distance or pace, so serious athletes may want to take a look at the top-rated Garmin Forerunner 405 (*Est. $300) or the Garmin Forerunner 101 (*Est. $95). Both of these watches use GPS technology to track pace and distance, but neither includes a heart-rate monitor (you can buy one as an option for the Forerunner 405).

Fitness and outdoor publications, like Outside and Trail Runner, provide the best coverage of the Timex Ironman Road Trainer Digital HRM watch. In their comprehensive buyer's guides, each publication lists the benefits of this sport watch, although they provide few critical comments. We also found short reviews of the Timex Ironman Road Trainer Digital HRM sports watch from The Associated Press and Maxim magazine. Unfortunately, this new watch has yet to attract many user reviews.
