Confusingly, carpet cleaners and steam vacuums are included with steam cleaners in this section of the Amazon.com website. Although it takes a lot of clicking around, many models do receive a significant… number of owner-written reviews. Ladybug cleaners are the most represented brand, but their steam cleaners get only a few reviews, probably because most models are over $1,000. The McCulloch MC-1275 receives mainly favorable ratings from about 70 owners. The SteamFast SF-275 also earns good ratings, but from only a couple of dozen owners. The WhiteWing Steamer receives four very favorable reviews. The Shark Ultra Steam Blaster S3325 gets a mix of very good and quite low ratings. Average-to-low scores go to some Euro-Pro models. Lower ratings go to the Euro-Pro Shark SC505. There are also reviews here for the Shark Steam Mop.
by Contributors to Ciao.co.uk
This is a consumer review site based in the UK. About 25 steam cleaners are rated, with most earning only a single review. The Earlex SC165 gets eight reviews and an overall score of four stars out of five.… Most like the affordable price, but several mention that if you overfill the tank, boiling water can spill. Many of these models aren't available in the U.S., but if you are looking for a steam cleaner for use in Europe, this is a good review site to visit.
by Contributors to ReviewCentre.com
This is another consumer review site in the UK. Unlike Ciao.com above, only 13 models are rated here, and most of those only receive one or two reviews. The Polti Cinderella gets the highest rating, but… based on only two reviews. The Polti Vaporetto earns only a fair rating based on four reviews - two favorable and two panning it. The Triplosimac receives the lowest overall rating, but again, based on only one review. Since so few reviews are written, it's hard to find a steam cleaner that really stands out and Polti models aren't available in the United States.
by Editors of Choice.com.au
Choice is an Australian magazine similar to Consumer Reports. CHOICE doesn't review steam mops here, saying that their previous test results were "underwhelming" and that a steam mop can't replace a string… mop and bucket. They list the pros and cons of steam cleaners and advise consumers what to look for in features (an easy to change cleaning head with available replacements, an easy-to-fill water tank and a few others).
by Contributors to Epinions
Mixed into this category at Epinions are carpet shampooers, stain removers, steam vacs, deep cleaners and vacuum cleaners with a steam-cleaning feature. You have to really search to find reviews on steam… cleaners. Almost all owners writing reviews use their steam cleaners only for cleaning carpets. The Euro-Pro Shark and Scunci steam cleaners get very low ratings from a few dozen owners. In general, Epinions is worth a look once you've narrowed your choices.
by Editors of ConsumerGuide.com
Steam cleaners here are divided into two categories: portable and heavyweight. The heavyweight category lists 24 models of carpet and fabric cleaners, while you'll find steam cleaners, steam mops and… smaller carpet cleaners mixed together in the portable category. Twenty-five models are tested and reviewed, but not comparatively. The Euro-Pro Shark Ultra Steam Blaster S3325 gets a CG Best Buy designation. According to the review, it does a good job of blasting away dirt and grime, but be prepared for a time-consuming, wet and messy job. It's impossible to know if this model was tested against other options since editors don't disclose any testing details. The Vapor Clean Stainless Steel Steam Cleaner also gets a very favorable review, though evaluation is focused on carpet cleaning. Its main drawback is that you must hold the button down while cleaning or it shuts off.
by Editors of Housekeeping Channel.com
This site offers several articles about steam cleaners. One describes in detail what steam cleaners are, how they work and how to use them. Another provides specific instruction on how to use a steam… cleaner on kitchen counters, floors and grout. Other articles discuss the benefits of steam cleaning for allergy and asthma sufferers. This is a good site to learn about steam cleaners and how to use them, but no models are tested or rated.
by Editors of Allergy Buyers' Club
This site sells products (including steam cleaners) that are promoted as useful to allergy sufferers. There's good information here on what steam cleaners do and how to use them. The editors recommend… products that are also sold on the site, so their picks must be taken with a grain of salt. The Ladybug 2200S is their category winner and top choice. With the exception of the WhiteWing Steam Cleaner, most of the steam cleaners sold on the site cost over $1,000.
by Editors of AllergyMatters.com
This UK-based site sells steam cleaners, but also provides some information on features to consider when shopping for a steam cleaner. A chart compares features among quite a few brands and models, but… mostly European brands are represented here - Steambee, Polti and Triplosimac, among others. Models are not rated; rather, this is simply a comparison of features. Also, there are some video reviews and information and the site plays music when you click on it, which can be annoying.
