If you need to iron only occasionally, experts and owners agree that the Black & Decker SteamAdvantage F1060 outputs a lot of steam for the price. Professional reviews say it gets wrinkles out just as easily as more expensive irons. The SteamAdvantage's 360-degree pivoting cord makes it easy to maneuver; however, the 4-ounce water tank is quite small for big ironing jobs and there are no variable steam controls. We read a fair number of complaints about this iron, namely regarding overall durability and leaks. However, compared to other budget-friendly models, the SteamAdvantage gets fewer complaints than most, and it seems like a good choice if you iron just once in a while or don't want to spend much. Overall, the Black & Decker Digital Advantage D2030 (*Est. $50) gets much better user reviews, but costs twice as much.
ConsumerReports.org includes the Black & Decker SteamAdvantage F1060 in a review of more than 40 steam irons and steam generators. We also found a number of owner-written comments at Amazon.com and, to a lesser extent, on other retail sites.
