The Panasonic NI-S300TR is a low-priced iron, and while it lacks some extras like vertical steam, it does have a retractable cord and a clear water reservoir. Owners seem to really like this iron and say that it produces plenty of steam but doesn't need to be refilled often, despite its relatively small 6-ounce water reservoir. A few even go so far as to say it works as well as -- or better than -- premium brands like Rowenta. And while most steam iron models are plagued by complaints of durability problems, we found very few reports of the Panasonic breaking down or leaking. If you need a vertical steam feature, the Rowenta Focus DZ5080 (*Est. $80) has this feature but costs more.
