Our Assessment

Epinions.com invites consumers to post reviews of the products they own. Of the steam mops reviewed here, the Bissell 1867 earns the largest number of reviews (more than 60). Many of these reviews are actually for the updated 1867-7 Green Tea model. Most owners are very happy with their Bissell steam mops, but a few say that the cord isn't long enough. Many owners are happy that the process is environmentally friendly, and that unlike Swiffer pads, the cleaning pads are washable. The second-place finisher here is the Reliable Steamboy mop. Owners say it heats quickly and requires little force to push around. The Euro-Pro Shark Steam Mop earns average marks in 36 reviews. Owners say it feels flimsy and isn't very effective on dirty floors. You may find more results by searching for specific models or for the term "steam mop."

Try It: The Shark Steam Mop
by Editors of WKYC
Our Assessment

Editors test the Euro-Pro Shark Steam Mop and find that it works fairly well. It heats quickly and removes sticky stains. Although it took time to adjust to a corded mop, floors dried almost instantly. Pushing this mop, however, requires some force. One commenter says that her Shark mop leaves a haze on her floors. We would give this review a higher score if editors described the testing process in greater detail.

Shark Steam Mop: Does It Work?
by Lauren Keith
Our Assessment

Reporter Lauren Keith tests the Shark Steam Mop at a Sikeston, Mo., insurance company. The Shark requires several passes to remove caked-on dirt from a tile floor, but it does a better job on scuff marks. The Shark makes quick work of a sticky spilled soft drink and grease spots on a kitchen floor. Floors dried quickly after use. Keith awards the Shark a B+ grade because testers find it somewhat expensive.

Shark Steam Mop Review
by R.C. Stanley
Our Assessment

Stanley, a computer programmer, blogger and mother of three, tested a Shark Steam Mop in her home and found that it cleaned just about as well as a standard mop. She found that the mop did not work well on the textured vinyl flooring in her bathroom. She used the mop to clean up a large apple juice spill, but found that everything she mopped afterward became sticky. Ms. Stanley also found the handle of the Shark Steam Mop "wobbly." Ultimately, she's not sure whether this mop was worth what she paid. The majority of users who own this mop are pleased with it.
