this is by far the best stroller ever!!! my daughter is 2 yrs now and she loves it she likes that she can see everything when she was smaller we did have a little padded insert for the head and body support. its great quality we use it for walks and for in and out of the car and at the mall the seat padding comes off and you can stick it in the washing machine and hang dry

Best Stroller to Tackle the Concrete Jungle, January 24, 2009

I wanted to write a positive review of the Maclaren Techno XT because, for our family, it has turned out to be an excellent product that we are very satisfied with. Our family lives overseas in a very urban environment and faces many "stroller challenges" that i presume many folks who only use their strollers in a shopping mall setting are never faced with. I wanted to list some features and beside them why it's important to us - a list that mainly comes from daily conversations my wife and i have while out pushing our little Bun in the morning for exercise: * wheel system - i can't explain the science behind it, but the wheel setup has Land Rover abilities as we effortlessly push over concrete and tile (often wet from rain), up and down curbs and sidewalks, over broken, rubble-y terrain on our average walk around town, and up and down the natural hilly landscape where we live * mesh basket under seat - nothing monumental, but still helpful to carry a bag or two of vegetables home from the market * lightweight and side carrying handle - carrying the stroller up and down several flights of stairs just to leave our apartment building has us singing this stroller's praises every time we leave or come back home, not to mention those times my wife is carrying our little one in the other arm. * extended sun cover with clear plastic peep window - our stroller is near about only used outside, and at all times of the day; the extra-long sun visor keeps the mean nasty direct sunlight out of baby's eyes in the long afternoon sun. Peep window allows us to see him while pusing without stopping the stroll, moving around to the front, and squatting down to see if he's asleep or not * rain cover - in our usage, the rain cover has allowed us to be able to take depression-fighting strolls each morning even during the cold winter months. The cleverly designed clear plastic removable rain shield nearly seals off the "cabin," leaving baby not only dry in the rain, sleet, and snow (we've experienced all three while out on walks), but also cordons him off from the harsh winter wind. Otherwise it would be too cold and windy for us to go out with him and we would spend the winter holed up inside, waiting for it to warm back up. Although your friends may joke that you spent way too much money on this "hollywood stroller," the extra money we spent on this well-designed stroller has bought our whole family a sweet hour of walking and talking and strolling together each morning that is one of the highlights of my day , and is not easily hindered by the unpredictable weather and terrain we meet everyday living in this concrete jungle.

Great, but not perfect, January 11, 2009

No other stroller with this many features breaks down and sets-up easier than a Maclaren Techno XT. It's amazing how many wonderful benefits they packed into such a compact stroller. That being said, I have more than 1 stroller because as great as it to have a stroller that is easy to keep in the car and set-up in a flash, I feel the full weight of my son when pushing him in this stroller and since I use a BOB Revolution for hikes and walks around my neighborhood, I know a stroller can feel dramatically lighter in motion even if the stroller itself is not classified as lightweight or compact. But the BOB is a nightmare to get in or out of a trunk. The Maclaren is easy to clean, the leg rest is awesome, the seat is comfortable for my son and has plenty of recline positions, and the extendable sun canopy is wonderful (not sure if the current model still has that feature?). On the down side, the handles are too high for me even at the lowest setting (I'm 5'4) and again I feel like I'm pushing a lot of weight when I push my son in this stroller. All told, there is no perfect stroller, but this Maclaren is great for it's intended use. P.S. I lost the rain cover and Maclaren's customer service did not get back to me about getting a replacement = (

good stroller, December 21, 2008
Meets expectations. No complaints. Not super light, but good enough for the urban streets and subways.
Fab Stroller, November 25, 2008

I've taken this stroller around the world 3 times and it is holding up great. It has even been "washed" in the tub several times. It's great that someone makes a fully reclining umbrella stroller, but the price is a bit OUCH compared to other brands. Do not hang a bag on the handles as the stroller may tip if your child is light, or the bag may bop your little one in the head when the seat is fully reclined. If you can afford it and need a sturdy vehicle, I recommend this one.

3. Baby-Gaga.com

This review covers both the Maclaren Techno XT stroller and Maclaren Techno Classic (now discontinued). Stroller ratings on this site are based on hands-on tests and parent interviews. The Maclaren Techno XT gets good scores in all categories (safety, convenience and comfort), with an A+ for driver comfort due to well-padded adjustable handles. However, the model tested is several years old.

"Baby Bargains" has a good section on Maclaren strollers in general, with a short write-up on the Techno XT. While we generally like this source for its thorough, unbiased analysis, there's not much detail on the Techno other than a features run-down and an overall grade for the Maclaren brand.

It's not clear how many parents are responsible for the reviews posted here, but the comments are very useful. As at other sites, the main complaints about the Maclaren Techno XT (which receives high marks overall) are its small basket and tendency to tip when empty.
