Hollie Schultz, senior editor of BabyGizmo.com, offers an in-depth look at the Peg Perego Skate, including a video demonstration. Schultz praises the removable bassinet and height-adjustable frame, which makes the Skate usable as an impromptu high chair. While she says the freedom-of-movement harness is good in theory, their child testers were able to escape. Note that the 2010 version of the Skate now offers a secure five-point harness.

The 2010 version of "Baby Bargains," a baby-gear book written by consumer advocates Denise and Alan Fields, discusses the improvements Peg Perego has made to the Skate since its introduction in 2008, including a reduction in its weight from 33.7 pounds to 25 pounds.

The owner of this blog was given a free Peg Perego Skate to test and one to give away to readers. Despite this, the review is well balanced. The author notes that she is surprised to learn that Peg Perego's 2010 Skate now has a separate bassinet in lieu of the former convertible seat; she says this creates an extra piece to travel with. She also praises the canopy, which contains a portion of mesh to allow air flow. Most importantly, she notes that the newer Skate now has a secure five-point harness, replacing the former "freedom-of-movement" harness that most parents disliked.

Many say they like the adjustable handlebar and the Skate's ability to convert from a pram to a stroller as a baby grows. On the downside, owners say it's heavy and bulky, and opinions are mixed on the removable shopping basket.
