The Peg Perego Vela is said to weigh 10 pounds on the company website, but we found several reviews stating that it weighs 15.5 to 16 pounds. One customer called the company to discover that the quoted 10-pound weight reflects the weight of the stroller frame only, not including fabrics, attachments and accessories. That said, most reviewers still say the Vela is lightweight enough to make travel easy, and most agree that it folds and unfolds easily with just one hand. It stands freely when folded, so parents can fold it up and stow it off to the side without laying it on a dirty floor. The Vela is compatible with the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30-30, converting this model into a travel system.
While reviewers say the Vela is easily maneuverable, there are some complaints about the double front wheel sticking, and a few owners say the Vela feels as though it could tip over with weight on the back. Finally, the Vela features Peg Perego's freedom-of-movement harness, designed to allow toddlers more movement while strolling, but parents generally feel this isn't as secure as a standard five-point harness.
ConsumerReports.org includes the Peg Perego Vela in its latest round of comprehensive stroller testing, in which each model tested is rated for safety, maneuverability and ease of use. The 2010 edition of "Baby Bargains" covers the Peg Perego brand as a whole, with brief discussion of individual models. The Stroller Queen Reviews blog and PishPoshBaby.com each cover the Vela in an individual product review, although PishPoshBaby.com is also offering the Vela for sale. Owner feedback is found on Amazon.com and Diapers.com.

3. Stroller Queen Reviews
Janet McLaughlin reviews dozens of strollers on this blog, based on her personal experience. Most useful are the detailed photos she includes, which give readers a close-up look at stroller features. McLaughlin says the Vela steers exceptionally well, even with one hand. She also appreciates the oversized canopy, but notes that the Vela is better suited for indoor use and smooth surfaces.

4. Amazon.com
Nearly two dozen owners contribute to the Peg Perego Vela's average rating of 3.2 stars out of 5. Parents say the Vela maneuvers well and that its compact, lightweight design is ideal for travel. Many are less than thrilled with the freedom-of-movement harness, which they feel isn't secure because the shoulder straps aren't attached to the back of the seat. There are also complaints that the Vela is advertised as weighing 10 pounds, but actually weighs 15.5 pounds. One customer called the company; a rep stated that the quoted 10 pounds is for the frame only, not including fabrics and accessories.

5. Diapers.com
The Peg Perego Vela has an average rating of 3.4 stars out of 5, based on just under 10 owner-written reviews. There are complaints about the front wheels locking, and some parents feel the Vela is unstable.

6. PishPoshBaby.com
PishPoshBaby.com is a retailer offering the Vela for sale, and we're typically skeptical of reviews written by retailers. This description of the Peg Perego Vela is brief and highly positive, noting that for a lightweight stroller the Vela offers many features, such as a child snack tray and large storage basket.
