The phil&teds Smart Buggy is compact, easy to use and accommodates newborns (with optional accessories) to 4 years. Its sleek and modern design gives it a definite cool factor, but features like a reversible seat and a simple fold/unfold make it practical, too. Optional accessories add to the price, and it may not be the best fit for children at the upper age range.
Easy to assemble, fold and unfold. The phil&teds Smart Buggy is built to be compact and easy to use, and it doesn't disappoint. It's reported as easy to assemble, and the seat can effortlessly be popped out to clean or swap out for another accessory, like the optional carrycot (*MSRP $129.99) or one of the many car seats that it accepts (car seats and adapters sold separately; prices vary). By simply unlocking the handle mechanism you can fold or unfold the stroller, and manual locks keep it securely folded. At 18 pounds, it is on the heavy side for an umbrella stroller, so may not be the easiest to haul up and down stairs or lift into trunks. The wheels pop off easily for a more compact package. The harness is easy to adjust by simply sliding it up or down from the back of the seat. It does get mixed reviews for ease of pushing, with some owners saying it's hard to push in a straight line and others saying it's fairly easy.
The seat is reported as very easy to clean.
Ideal for an urban setting, with lots of optional features. With its sleek, compact design and carrycot adaptability, the phil&teds Smart Buggy is ideal for city-dwelling parents. Its small fold makes it easy to bring onto buses and subways -- or to fit in a trunk -- and it's narrow enough that it doesn't take up a lot of space on crowded sidewalks. It's best for smooth terrain, like sidewalks and paved park paths, as reviewers say it doesn't do well on more challenging terrains. The front wheels do not lock, which means it's probably not the best choice for longer walks.
Sold on its own, the Smart Buggy covers the basic essentials and is suitable for ages 6 months to 4 years. Optional accessories to accommodate newborns and babies less than 6 months can add significantly to the price. It may not be the best choice for children at the upper limit of the suggested age rating; experts and owners both say the narrow seat can be uncomfortable for older children. The stroller has only a slight recline, so may not be the most comfortable for children who like to nap. There are also reports that the lack of suspension makes it a bumpy ride for kids.
The handle is not adjustable, so may not fit taller parents. The stroller has an underseat storage basket and a large canopy. The canopy is not attached to the seat, and parents report this often results in an annoying game of flipping the canopy up and down. Many owners complain that the cupholder is an optional accessory (*MSRP $9.99).
A lengthy warranty and attentive customer service. The five-year limited warranty will cover manufacturer defects in the phil&teds Smart Buggy for, presumably, the entire time your child is utilizing the stroller. Parents who have run into issues with their Smart Buggy find that the phil&teds customer service is very friendly and responsive, willing not only to accommodate exchanges but also to answer other inquiries they may have about the stroller.

Review Credibility: Excellent Hollie Schultz, senior editor of BabyGizmo.com, gives the phil&teds Smart Buggy a thorough video review and finds that it's a great stroller overall. She loves how the seat is ventilated and easy to clean, but she does point out how narrow it is, saying that it might become uncomfortable for some children as they grow. She likes how the straps are easy for parents to adjust, and that the five-point harness is tricky enough that toddlers won't be able to undo it. The stroller is easy to fold and unfold, as Schultz demonstrates, but doesn't offer much of a recline. The canopy is not attached to the seat, which Schultz warns could turn into an annoying game with toddlers. She calls attention to the fact that the handles are not adjustable, so taller parents might have some trouble maneuvering the stroller easily. Schultz says the stroller is meant to be used on smooth terrains.

Review Credibility: Very Good Over 40 owners review the phil&teds Smart Buggy on KiddiCare.com, and an overwhelming 85 percent give the stroller at least 4 out of 5 stars. Most find it to be lightweight, easy to maneuver, stylish and easy to assemble. A few reviewers find that the ride is a bit bumpy when used on uneven surfaces, and say they wish the front wheels could lock and that there were springs on the wheels for a smoother ride. Of the small percentage of dissatisfied customers, the most common complaint is that the seat is too small to accommodate some children's growth for very long.

3. Amazon.com
Review Credibility: Very Good Out of the handful of reviews on Amazon.com, the Smart Buggy gets a lackluster average of 3.2 stars out of 5. About half of the owners like it, while the other half are less than pleased. Most reviewers find that it's easy to assemble, use, fold and clean. The ease of steering is debatable: Some reviewers say it's very smooth and easy to steer, while a couple say that they have trouble steering the stroller in a straight line. While many appreciate features like the canopy and the underseat storage basket, some wish that the stroller came with a few more bells and whistles like additional storage, a cupholder for parents and more reclining options. A few reviewers have run into some technical problems with their stroller, including a brake issue and the canopy knob falling off, but when they called the manufacturer they found that the phil&teds has excellent and attentive customer service.

Review Credibility: Very Good Writer and editor Deborah Osborne-Walker reviews the phil&teds Smart Buggy for the British site MadeForMums.com, giving it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. She finds the stroller to be fashionably designed and easy to use, and she loves how compact it is when folded. Her biggest complaint is that the handles aren't adjustable, which could make maneuvering the stroller tricky for parents on the taller side. She also wishes that the seat had more reclining options and a bit more padding for her child.
