Bottom Line

With an amazingly lightweight frame, compact fold and great features, the Valco Baby Snap splits the difference between an umbrella and a full-featured stroller at a price point reviewers like. Weighing in at 13 pounds, with a fully reclining seat, the Snap can be used for a newborn and for your toddler up to 44 pounds. Additional crave-worthy features include a full-coverage canopy, roomy accessible basket and one-hand maneuverability.

Safety

Flip-flop friendly, linked rear brakes. The Valco Baby Snap  mimics a three-wheel design, with two larger rear wheels and a pair of smaller wheels doubled up in front. The stroller doesn't get any stability complaints from parents or reviewers, but users note that this is not an all-terrain stroller and won't perform well if used as such. The Snap does get rave reviews about the linked rear brake that engages and disengages with a pedal that won't mess up your pedicure. The front swivel wheel can be locked in the forward-facing position when greater stability is required. There is a height-adjustable, padded five-point harness with locks that reviewers say are toddler-proof, and a bumper bar for even greater security. The large canopy can stand up to heavy winds without blowing into the child, according to parents.

Ease of Use

One-hand maneuverability on even terrain. The Valco Baby Snap has two 10-inch hard rubber rear wheels in the back and 8-inch wheels in front, with 360 degrees of swivel for maneuverability. Reviewers say that the stroller rolls well in most conditions, including grass and gravel, while muddy terrain takes it out of its comfort zone. Users say the Snap is effortless to push -- even one-handed -- on pavement and in busy areas. Rubber wheels mean you won't have to worry about flats.

Reviewers say the Snap offers an easy, two-hand fold. The stroller folds in on itself, which protects the seat, and locks closed automatically. At just 13 pounds and with a built-in carry handle underneath, this stroller is easy to travel with.

Lifestyle Features

Fully featured, with an umbrella-weight profile. Although it fits in the ultra-light category of strollers, the Valco Baby Snap is not light on features. Suitable for newborns, the Snap offers an infinite recline that extends almost flat and is easy to operate with one hand. When the seat is reclined fully the upper canopy extends down, providing wind protection with two extra storage pockets. A covered mesh peekaboo window allows you to keep an eye on your little one from above. The fabric can be rolled up to reveal a mesh cover for air circulation. The Snap can be used as a travel system with a car-seat adapter (*Est. $40). Just as comfy for bigger kids, the Snap has a generously sized seat in width, height and seat-to-canopy distance. The stroller can be used for kids weighing up to 44 pounds, and a hitchhiker platform (*Est. $90) can be attached to the back of the stroller, allowing toddlers to stand and ride.

Reviewers describe the Snap seat as well padded and comfortable. While it lacks a parent console or child snack tray, the Snap does have a roomy under-seat basket that reviewers say is easy to access. The stroller stands independently when folded for easier storage. Reviewers say the seat fabric wipes clean easily. There are many optional accessories available for the Snap, including an additional seat pad, cupholders, a rollable storage cover, a foot muff, safety lights and a sun shade.

The Valco Baby Snap comes in a double stroller as well, the Snap Dual.
