Best sunscreen for sensitive skin and babies
- Provides broad-spectrum protection
- Chemical- and fragrance-free
- Water-resistant
- Thick and heavy
- Difficult to apply
- Leaves white film on skin
April 2009. For those with sensitive skin, or for those who prefer chemical- and fragrance-free sunscreen, we found excellent reviews for Blue Lizard Suncream Sensitive SPF 30+. Instead of chemical ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin, Blue Lizard Sensitive (and the identical Blue Lizard Baby) contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which act as a barrier against broad-spectrum UVA and UVB rays. Blue Lizard sunscreen is water-resistant. Because this sunscreen is thicker and creamier than others, it can take a while to apply, and as with all zinc/titanium sunscreens, it can leave a whitish film on the skin. Reviewers note that the bottle or tube cap changes color in ultraviolet light to indicate that sunscreen is necessary. If you don't have sensitive skin, reviews also recommend No-Ad Sunblock Lotion SPF 45 (*est. $10 for 16 ounces), which costs less.
Allure magazine provides the most credible review of Blue Lizard Suncream Sensitive SPF 30+, in which editors recommend it for sensitive skin because of its lack of chemical sunscreens. Consumer reviews posted at MakeupAlley.com and Buzzillions.com also provide useful feedback into the pros and cons of this formula.

Reviewers at Drugstore.com recommend Blue Lizard Suncream SPF 30+ because it is gentle on sensitive skin and provides effective broad-spectrum protection. A few, however, claim that it is a bit greasy and can be hard to rub in completely.
