Reviews say the Hankook Dynapro MT is one of the best off-road tires, although we found little feedback about its real-world, on-road performance compared with the top-rated Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar (*Est. $210) . The Dynapro MT excels on rocks and mud, and it satisfies experts with its fairly quiet street ride.
Owner reviews do say that the Hankook Dynapro MT performs acceptably on sand, snow and ice. Optional studs improve traction. There's no tread-wear warranty. If off-road driving is not your main priority, reviews say the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 (*Est. $200) gives the best all-around performance on pavement, dirt and gravel, and it carries a 55,000-mile tread-wear warranty.
We found three detailed reviews of the Hankook Dynapro MT at websites devoted to off-roading. Four Wheeler pits the Dynapro MT against nine other mud tires in a head-to-head mud test, while Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road magazine and Off-Road.com test the tire in varied off-road terrain as well as on pavement. More than 100 owners report their experiences with this tire at Offroaders.com.

1. Four Wheeler
The surprise winner of this 10-tire shootout is the Hankook Dynapro MT. Editors didn't expect its fairly close, basic tread pattern to perform well, but it "absolutely schooled" the other tires in the test on muddy, rutted slopes, and it delivers a smooth highway ride.

2. Petersen's 4 Wheel & Off Road
Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road's detailed, single-product review tests the Hankook Dynapro MT on rock and mud as well as dry pavement, where it generates a definite hum but handles well overall. Reviewer Jerrod Jones only speculates about poor braking on wet pavement and concludes that the tire is a good all-around choice for most drivers.

3. Off-Road.com
Off-Road.com's detailed review includes photos of the Hankook Dynapro MT in action. Reviewer Rob Sutter finds excellent traction on sand and dirt, acceptable grip on slick rock, a smooth and predictable ride on the highway -- and little tread wear after 7,000 miles. No testing is performed on snow or ice.

4. Offroaders.com
Owners give the Hankook Dynapro MT mostly positive reviews at Offroaders.com. There are scattered complaints about traction, but for every complaint there are other owners who say traction on that surface is great. One owner reports two sidewall blowouts and considers the tire to be dangerous.
