For occasional DIY carpentry projects or starting woodworking on a rock-bottom budget, reviews say this inexpensive table saw can get the work done. The small size makes it easy to squeeze into a small work area, but means adding a separate outfeed table for cutting long boards or sheets of plywood. The saw comes on a fixed stand, with a 2.5-inch dust port sized to fit many shop vacs. Looking at the demonstration video at the Skil site makes it obvious that the saw vibrates a lot, so this is not a table saw for fine woodworking. Owners say that getting accurate cuts even for less demanding carpentry projects can mean fiddling a lot and double-checking measurements, but tests at Popular Mechanics conclude that it's possible. Most owners say the saw is a good value for the price.
