Best Tax Product!, June 29, 2009
I have tried H&R Block and TaxCut products but TurboTax beats them both in its ease of use.
Excellent Software, December 24, 2008

This is the 2nd year I used TurboTax to file my taxes. I like this software. It is very well written, and very straight forward. It uses plain and simple English. It may take some times to complete your taxes, however, you can save your work and you do not have to start all over again. What is also neat about it, since I previously used TurboTax to file my taxes, it uses previous tax return to populate current form, and asks questions about changes in personal life (marriage, divorce, widown, kids, etc.). The explanation and suggestions given by the software far exceeded ALL accountants I used long ago to file my taxes. I think I am hooked with this software, and I will use it again to file my taxes from now on.

You will pay for e-filing even if you don't want your information spread across the internet. You will pay an extra $10 for each return you print and file after the first. So, if you file for your family members, you will pay extra when you go to print the additional returns after the first one. When you save a copy of your return for your personal use, a banner that says "DO NOT FILE" will be printed across your return to a point where some of the data is unreadable. If you like all this, then order this product. If you don't like this, order TaxCut.

This just works, and it "holds your hands" as you go thru the process.I used this to complete our joint return, our children's returns, and all our state tax returns in an afternoon.

Carroll tries out H&R Block TaxCut Home & Business, Intuit TurboTax Home & Business and TaxACT Deluxe and State for the 2007 tax year. TurboTax retains a tiny edge over TaxCut; Carroll says TaxCut's interface isn't as polished, and the software doesn't do quite as good a job of maximizing deductions.

About.com's guide to financial software reviews the 2007 versions of TaxCut and TurboTax (although it's unclear which version of the Intuit software is being reviewed), calling both programs comprehensive and reliable. Elmblad is not a tax professional, but has impressive expertise with financial software, and the fact that her choice of the better program differs from last year is a strong indication of objectivity.
