I like nothing about this kettle. The handle shifts unexpectedly which makes it awkward to move to a different burner and downright dangerous to pour. The instructions say to empty after use. It feels flimsy.

Had this for a couple of years now - great! I was looking for a stainless steel pot without the teflon coating on the inside. This teapot is perfect and I think it is just as good as the really expensive models. Save yourself some money and buy this one!
Could be better, August 29, 2009

Ok, I bought it for its looks. I expect such products to last a long time, and I have owned it for a number of year. However, while it is still functional it has not held up altogether well. It no longer whistles, which one of the important feature I wanted. Also, the handle regularly loosens and the screw needs to be tightened. A short screw driver is needed to tighten the screw. On the other hand, it has never rusted! I have the brushed steel version. Maybe it is the enamel ones that rust. Now I'm in search of a new kettle and won't be replacing it with another Oxo.

Stylish, Works Great, Feels Solid, Expect Tarnishing Over Time...., July 5, 2009

Mine is the brushed Stainless Steel one. I've also used the KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials 2-Quart Tea Kettle which is also a great kettle. I use mine for green tea and coffee via the Melitta pour over method. With 2 cups of water in it, mine gets to a water temperature of approximately 190 degrees in about in about 4 minutes and the whistle is loud enough to hear over a TV but not annoying. The spout opens by holding the handle and either flicking your wrist upwards or holding the kettle at a 45 degree angle. One thing to be aware of is the brushed stainless steel model does get discolored easily on the outside and starts to tarnish after moderate use, turning a very light hint of yellowish-brown towards the bottom. The handle does get slightly warm as well after its up to temperature to cause the whistle to go off but its in no way too hot. Oxo makes great products and this kettle looks very stylish and feels very solid. Only downsides IMO is the tarnishing on the exterior of the brushed stainless steel model and warming of the handle.

Rusts inside!!!, June 10, 2009

Oxo Good Grips Uplift Teakettle, Brushed Stainless Steel I bought the green enamel Oxo Good Grips Uplift Tea Kettle 2 Qt. capacity less than 6 months back. I use it daily to boil water for cooking. I take good care of it- keep it clean and dry when not in use. Unfortunately, it has began rusting inside where the spout meets the kettle. This is definitely not worth the money. 2 stars for the good looks and the comfy handle.

1. Slate.com

This review pans stovetop kettles as sluggish, but it does provide great side-by-side comparisons of how well a variety of tea kettles performed in tests. Seth Stevenson tests seven kettles and says if you must go with a stovetop kettle, the Oxo Uplift is the best. He likes its design and the fact that it boils water quickly (for a stovetop kettle). Unlike some users, he likes the sound of its whistle, though it's a bit weak, he says.

2. Apartment Therapy.com

Unlike other reviewers, this website's editors prefer stovetop kettles to electric models. Their top two choices are the Revere Whistling Tea Kettle and a "classic Chinese restaurant" tea kettle. A short review of the Oxo Uplift praises the kettle for pouring easily, but says it seems "over-engineered."

3. Amazon.com

The Oxo Uplift has received more than 100 owner-written reviews at Amazon.com, but its overall rating is average. Some say it's easy to use, and most love its design. But not all are thrilled with the whistle and some say it stopped working entirely. Others say its build quality or durability is poor.

4. Real Simple

This write-up is less a review than recommendations for two kettles, one stovetop and one electric. The Oxo Good Grips Uplift is noted for its comfortable handle, wide top and spout. There's no indication that it was tested by editors, however.

5. Epinions.com

Reviewers either love or hate their Oxo Uplift. Reviews are centered on its design. Most say it looks great, but some say that water dribbles out of the spout while boiling and that they have to empty the kettle while not in use to prevent rusting.
