While the model names are often same, off-the-rack tennis rackets are nothing like the sticks wielded by Rafa and Maria. So rather than celebrity pedigree, we chose best-bet tennis rackets by checking out testing performed by tennis magazines, both here and abroad. We then compared those ratings to user reviews to find good choices for beginners and beyond.

Amazon.com: At this writing there were just a handful of customer reviews of the Head Liquidmetal 8.

Sports Authority: Only a few customers post reviews here; the lone complainer says the Head Liquidmetal 8 tennis racket broke after a month and its strings break frequently.
