This summer tire has shown up as original equipment on luxury sedans from Audi, Lexus and Mercedes. Owners who post reviews at TireRack.com rate it higher than any other grand touring summer tire: It gets the highest score of "superior" for steering response and wet and dry traction, and an "excellent" rating for cornering stability, hydroplaning resistance, quietness, ride comfort and tread wear. One testing organization names it a best buy for the same reasons.
The Michelin Primacy HP balances performance with comfort, more so than the top-rated Michelin Pilot Super Sport (*Est. $195) summer tire, which is geared more toward pure performance. Note that summer tires won't grip on cold roads, snow or ice. For that, you'll need a performance all-season tire like the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position (*Est. $185).
Which? magazine, a U.K. consumer publication, ranks the Michelin Primacy HP against its peers in a rigorous independent test. We found owner reviews at Tyrereviews.co.uk and at TireRack.com, a U.S. retail website. SaferCar.gov posts the Primacy HPs official temperature, traction and tread-wear ratings.
