Consumer Reports compares the Yokohama Avid V4s with 18 other performance all-season tires and rates them based on objective tests and ratings. Staff tests and nearly 1,300 owner ratings at TireRack.com compare this tire with 21 other performance tires. Only a handful of owners review the Avid V4s tire at Epinions.com, but the information is still useful -- as are the manufacturer's official ratings, which are posted at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

Reviewers recommend the Yokohama Avid V4s as an excellent budget high-performance tire; they say it's comfortable and reasonably quiet, and it carries a 60,000-mile treadwear warranty, which is long for a high-performance tire. In mild climates, reviewers say it handles well, even on wet roads. While it's labeled as an all-season tire, tests show traction is poor on ice and snow. The Yokohama Avid V4s tire costs only about half as much as Michelin's Energy MXV4 Plus (*est. $165).
