Owners and critics alike say that the KitchenAid KMTT400 is an excellent four-slice toaster. It's the four-slice version of the highly rated KitchenAid KMTT200 (*Est. $70). The KMTT400 toasts evenly and offers nine different browning settings. Bagels fit neatly within the slots, and owners say that it's easy to clean. Reviewers also like the KitchenAid toaster's all-metal design, which comes in red, black and stainless steel. If you're looking for a less expensive four-slice toaster, reviews point to the Michael Graves Design 4-Slice Toaster 24301 (*Est. $40), which has a white plastic housing with silver accents. Though not as snazzy-looking as the KitchenAid toaster, the Michael Graves toaster still has dual controls and a bagel setting.
Although we couldn't find any professional reviews of the KitchenAid KMTT400, we did find dozens of consumer reviews that gave us a clear picture of its long-term performance. We found the more than 100 reviews at Amazon.com and those at Cooking.com particularly helpful.
