February 2009. The Caroma Caravelle 305 toilet's dual-flush system uses 0.8 gallons of water for liquid waste and 1.6 gallons of water for solid waste, about 25 percent less than a regular, 1.6 gallons-per-flush toilet. The Caroma Caravelle earns the EPA's WaterSense label due to its lower water usage. Reviewers say this toilet's low-profile push buttons are easy to operate, with molded symbols so your fingers can find them in the dark. However, although the Caroma Caravelle is very efficient and powerful, reviewers note a couple of drawbacks: because its water level is so low, it may need more frequent cleaning, and odor could be an issue. A one-flush gravity toilet that also meets WaterSense criteria is the TOTO Eco UltraMax MS853113E (*est. $450).

The two most convincing tests of the Caroma Caravelle 305 toilet are the Maximum Performance (MaP) Testing of Popular Toilet Models 13th Edition and The City of Mesa Toilet Papers website. Users discuss the Caroma Caravelle 305 at Love Plumbing and Remodel.
