For a toilet that has a powerful flush and never clogs, the Toto Drake CST743S is a solid performer. With a MaP score of 1,000, it doesn't get any better for solid waste removal. It may leave streaks in the bowl, however, and some users call the toilet hard to clean. It uses 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf) and isn't WaterSense-certified, but still uses less water than older toilets.
Single-flush with G-Max. The single-flush, two-piece Toto Drake CST743S uses a tower-flush mechanism combined with gravity to ensure the maximum amount of waste exits with every flush. At HomeClick.com, owners say this toilet doesn't clog, thanks in part to Toto's G-Max flushing system that uses a wide, 3-inch flush valve for removing more waste.
The CST743S isn't WaterSense-certified and doesn't come with a bidet, but an optional Washlet seat (Est. $400 to $1,000, depending on style and features) with a built-in bidet is available.
Highest possible MaP score. The CST743S earns the highest Maximum Performance (MaP) score possible of 1,000, meaning it removes 1,000 grams of solid waste or more per flush. Users posting comments at Amazon.com offer mixed feedback on left-behind waste, however. Several say the toilet bowl doesn't come clean with a single flush; although the flush is powerful, there doesn't seem to be much water swirling around and telltale marks are left behind. One user points out that the standing water level seems quite low, which allows more particles to adhere to the bowl. Others say it leaves only an occasional streak behind.
The Toto Drake CST743S has a fully glazed trapway, but no antimicrobial coating to protect the bowl interior. It uses 1.6 gpf.
Ideal for small bathrooms. Owners like this toilet's round shape, which has a small footprint and is well suited for tighter spaces, but its 15-inch seat height doesn't meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The Toto Drake CST743S is backed by a one-year limited warranty and comes in bone, colonial white, cotton, ebony and Sedona beige.
