America's Choice (Wal-Mart)

*Est. $3 for box of 20 13-gallon bags

Budget trash bags

pros
  • Inexpensive
  • Strong enough for most uses
cons
  • Can break when overloaded

We found the best, and most reliable, review of America's Choice trash bags at Consumer Reports magazine, which compares this brand to Hefty Ultra Flex and Glad ForceFlex. We also consulted an article at AssociatedContent.com, which compares America's Choice to another Hefty brand, Cinch Sak.

America's Choice trash bags (the house brand of Wal-Mart) are compared favorably in reviews to more expensive (and supposedly more durable) brands like Hefty Ultra Flex (*est. $10 for box of 38 13-gallon bags) and Glad ForceFlex (*est. $6 for a box of 20 13-gallon bags). In one head-to-head test, which involved stuffing bags with wire hangers (as well as other torture tests), America's Choice bags proved superior in durability to Glad and Hefty. America's Choice trash bags are also a more economical choice.

Carole Bengle Gilbert pits Wal-Mart's America's Choice trash bags against Hefty's Cinch Sak. Bengle claims America's Choice fits better in the trash bin, but can't match Cinch Sak for durability. She still opts for America's Choice trash bags overall based on price. She recommends, however, that users should be careful to not overload the bag.
