January 2009. TreadmillDoctor.com conducts its own expert treadmill evaluations, and buyers will appreciate that it tries to ferret out the best values for the money. Runners themselves conduct the tests at Runner's World, which concentrates more on high-end treadmills. The reviewer at TreadmillSensei.com does test the Bodyguard T460x for an hour-long workout, but TreadmillTips.com's review does not refer to any testing.

Some experts are totally smitten with the full-featured but expensive Bodyguard T460x, while others don't think it's worth the high price. The T460x's main feature -- the ability to tilt downhill -- can be found on the LifeSpan TR2000 (*est. $1,500) for less than half the price, or on the upscale PaceMaster Platinum Pro VR (*est. $2,500) for more than a thousand dollars less. The pricier T460x does offer a more powerful motor, bigger running surface and better warranty (lifetime frame/motor/parts, three years labor) than those other treadmills, and some reviewers just like the luxurious way it feels when they run on it. Some like its unique cushioning, which feels more like a road surface than other treadmills, but others find it too hard.

1. TreadmillDoctor.com

These reliable experts aren't as crazy about the Bodyguard T460x as some other critics are, mainly because of the price; the Stevenson brothers say it is hard to justify spending this much money for this treadmill. The write-up here is very short, but a chart shows how the T460x performs in several areas.

2. Runner's World

The Bodyguard T460x is one of eight high-end treadmills in this Runner's World test. Each gets a one-paragraph write-up explaining its benefits and drawbacks, plus a list of specs, but Runner's World does not rank the treadmills. Testers here like the T460x's negative-incline feature; opinions on its unique deck cushioning are mixed.

3. TreadmillSensei.com

The Treadmill Sensei, a longtime exercise equipment mechanic, raves over the Bodyguard T460x, awarding it a rare five-Buddha rating after working out on one for an hour at a local dealership and poking around under the hood. He says the only nitpick keeping it from being the ultimate runner's treadmill is its 12 mph speed limit.

Reviewer Aaron Co awards the Bodyguard T460x Best Buy status in the $3,000 to $4,000 range, along with the Landice L7 Pro Sports Trainer. He explains the benefits of the Bodyguard's various features and concludes that he can't find a weakness with this treadmill, except for its price tag.
