Treadmill experts say runners should avoid sub-$1,000 treadmills, but the Horizon Evolve SG receives a few recommendations for walkers. It gets a nod from a major testing organization and boasts above-average ratings at user-review sites. Owners love that the Horizon Evolve SG treadmill comes fully assembled, and the compact fold earns a great deal of praise -- the treadmill is only 10 inches high when fully folded, so it can fit under most beds. While many owners are satisfied with the treadmill, reviewers note that it is only suitable for walking. The Horizon Evolve SG has a 1.5-horsepower motor, 17-by-45-inch walking belt and a maximum speed of 6 mph, so this is not a treadmill for runners. There's also no incline functionality, and some owners report problems with the built-in speakers. If you want a treadmill with incline for walking, reviewers recommend the LifeSpan TR200 (*Est. $700), which has 10 different incline levels.
The most credible review of the Horizon Evolve SG comes from ConsumerReports.org, which tests the treadmill on ergonomics, construction, ease of use, exercise range and safety. Unfortunately, this review is no longer available online. TreadmillDoctor.com and Treadmill-Ratings-Reviews.com also offer specific recommendations on this treadmill. User reviews are also helpful, especially at Amazon.com, where the Horizon Evolve SG treadmill receives more than 60 reviews. Only a few reviews are posted so far at Sears.com.
