TreadmillDoctor.com and Consumer Reports rate the Life Fitness F3 on several measures, based on expert analysis. Reviews at Runner's World and Prevention choose the F3 as a top model, but neither provides numeric scores, and Prevention provides less information about the treadmill than Runner's World does. TreadmillTips.com doesn't do an individual review on the F3, but reviewer Aaron Co does give his opinion of the entire Life Fitness brand.

Critics say the Life Fitness F3 is a good treadmill, but equally good treadmills can be had for less. Experts say the F3 is particularly sturdy for a folding treadmill. Some reviewers especially like its one-touch controls for incline (low, medium or high) and speed (instantly starting a 17-, 12- or 8.5-minute mile pace). Others appreciate its workout modes, including a heart rate control mode and a gradual-incline mode. However, for serious runners looking for a fold-up treadmill, reviews are more likely to recommend the less expensive PaceMaster Gold Elite Fold-Up (*est. $2,500), which offers a longer 60-inch deck, heavier user weight limit (400 pounds versus 350 pounds) and longer motor warranty (12 years versus 10 years).

3. Runner's World

Runner's World testers find the Life Fitness F3 "remarkably sturdy" for a fold-up treadmill, and they like its workout modes. Testers do note that its deck is slightly short, it doesn't offer as many quick-set buttons as other treadmills and it gets noisy when they incline the deck.
