This widescreen HDTV includes both analog and digital tuners, so it won't become obsolete when analog broadcasting ends in… your area. QAM compatibility means it will work with unscrambled digital cable as well. However, there's no HDMI input (the best way to connect an HD cable box or Blu-ray player). The 26-inch Sharp LC-26DV24U is the larger sibling of the 22-inch Sharp LC-22DV24U. Resolution is actually lower, but at 1,366 pixels by 768 pixels it is perfect for watching 720 progressive-scan (720p) high-def… programming. Reviewers say picture quality is good; connectivity is ample, including HDMI and a digital-audio output; and the DVD player is capable and full featured. The built-in audio is not so great, but should suffice in a smaller space. A limited vertical viewing angle and a non-tilting stand can make placing the TV a challenge in some settings.

Otherwise, picture quality is stunning with excellent color reproduction and… above average screen uniformity. Extensive picture adjustments are available -- a rarity in a TV-DVD player combo. The built-in progressive-scan upconverting DVD player holds its own against typical standalone players and should keep all but the fussiest viewers happy.
