The Motorola EM1000 has a 20-mile rated range and numerous convenience features not found on most other similarly priced two-way radios: NOAA weather alerts, emergency alerts and transmitter, hands-free operation, USB charging port, backlit display, a built-in LED flashlight and Quiet Talk interruption filter, which allows users to lock out extremely busy channels. Although this radio lacks many of the features of the Motorola MR350 (*Est. $55 per pair), it is still a very able outdoor companion, and costs approximately $10 less.
User reviews at Amazon.com and Walmart.com are numerous and very positive. We visited both sites to analyze recent feedback on the EM1000.
