If you are looking for a tablet PC, critics say that you would be hard-pressed to find a better option than the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Tablet. All hail its great performance, great LED backlit touch screen display and more. The X200 Tablet is a convertible notebook with a touch screen that can swivel and flip to create an easy-to-carry tablet. Performance is good compared to many ultraportable laptops, but drags behind the very best, such as the non-tablet Lenovo ThinkPad X200 (starting at $1,170). Everyone says that the tablet features work well, with very accurate handwriting detection. The 12.1-inch HP TouchSmart tx2z (starting at $900) also gets some recommendations from experts and is a little less expensive, but that AMD-processor-powered convertible laptop/tablet PC isn't quite as good a performer as the Lenovo X200 Tablet, and it's a bit heavier to carry.
Reflecting the fact that tablet PCs are a niche product, we only found four professional reviews for the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Tablet, but all are very good and very complimentary towards this convertible laptop/tablet PC. PCMag.com, Laptop Magazine and Computer Shopper all honor it with Editors' Choice designations. TabletPCReview.com does not make an explicit recommendation, but the report leaves little doubt about the reviewer's opinion.

Laptop Magazine notes that the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 is missing a couple of niceties -- or perhaps necessities -- such as an optical drive and a touchpad. That doesn't stop Jeffery L. Wilson from saying, "It's still one of the best tablets of the year thanks to smooth performance, durability, and numerous wireless options," and naming it an Editors' Choice. Other pluses named include light weight, excellent tablet functions and a great keyboard.

In naming the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Tablet an Editors' Choice, Jamie Bsales says, "This business-focused machine has all the benefits of the X200 notebook, with added features that make it an outstanding -- if pricey -- tablet. However, he, like most, dislikes the lack of an optical drive and touchpad, and also calls the styling "bland."
