Among budget-priced umbrella strollers, the Evenflo XSport is becoming a reviewer favorite: feedback is good for overall durability (despite the short warranty of just 90 days), storage and handling. This is not a luxury stroller, though. The harness is a simple three-point lap belt, which some parents say doesn't feel secure enough for young babies. The Evenflo XSport umbrella stroller also lacks a recline feature, meaning it's not suitable for babies under 6 months and might not be a good choice for toddlers who like to do a lot of napping in their strollers. Some parents find the handlebars on the Evenflo XSport to be short; the similar Evenflo XSport Plus (*Est. $80) adds adjustable-height handlebars, making it a better choice for taller parents, but it costs $30 more. The Maclaren Volo (*Est. $130) is the best-reviewed simple umbrella stroller overall; it has a higher maximum weight capacity (55 pounds) than the Evenflo XSport (40 pounds) plus a much longer one-year warranty.

"Baby Bargains" has the most breadth of any professional stroller reviewer, and authors Denise and Alan Fields include the Evenflo XSport stroller in their comprehensive baby-gear guide. There's also a good detailed review on Gruntlings.com, which analyzes every aspect of the XSport's performance. Among user review sites, Amazon.com stands out as having the highest volume along with a good balance of perspectives.

Our Sources

1. Baby Bargains

"Baby Bargains" is the best overall source of stroller reviews, despite the fact that umbrella strollers are relegated to the 'second stroller' category. The Evenflo XSport and XSport Plus get a short write-up, plus some more general coverage under the Evenflo brand.

2. Amazon.com

Amazon.com has scores of owner-written reviews of the Evenflo XSport, the majority of which award it perfect scores. Only a handful of parents give it less than four or five stars; among quibbles, we found a few parents who wished the handles were longer.

3. Gruntlings.com

This lengthy review dissects various aspects of the Evenflo XSport Plus, from handling and folding to aesthetics and cleaning. Testing appears to be informal, but there's an honest breakdown of where the Evenflo XSport shines and where it falls short. (The Evenflo XSport Plus is the extended-handle version of the Evenflo XSport.)
