Maclaren Quest Sport

Pros
  • Light weight
  • Easy to maneuver
  • Good storage space
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Maclaren Triumph is a better value
  • Maclaren strollers recalled after amputating fingers

All Maclaren strollers were recalled in November 2009 after 12 children were reported to have their fingers amputated by Maclaren hinges; Maclaren has since added protective hinge covers to its strollers. Otherwise, reviews for the Maclaren Quest Sport (and similar Quest Mod) are excellent. Light weight and easy maneuverability are high points. The 12.2-pound Maclaren Quest Sport, however, is nearly identical to the less expensive Maclaren Triumph (*Est. $170). For the higher price, you get two more reclining positions, some reflective trim, a peek-a-boo window in the canopy and an adjustable leg rest -- extras that might not be worth the extra money over the Maclaren Triumph, which is also highly rated.

The Maclaren Quest Sport is included in a recent roundup by Which? magazine (the British equivalent of ConsumerReports.org in the U.S.), and it's also dissected with typical attention to detail by StrollersAndPrams.com. We also found more than a dozen helpful owner-written reviews at Amazon.com. For information on the hinge recall, see the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website.

4. StrollersandPrams.com

In this extremely detailed, hands-on review (accompanied by pictures), StrollersAndPrams.com's reviewer concludes that the Maclaren Quest Sport is comfortable and easy to use, but has a small, hard-to-reach basket and a seat recline that requires two hands. Also, the writer is concerned about how children tend to slump down in the seat.
