great purchase once i took the plunge!, August 4, 2009

my only regret is not buying it sooner. we got it in red, a nice unisex color, for my son who was just turning 6 months at the time. ive had it for 2 months and it is an absolute god send. prior to that i was primarily using his peg perego car seat/infant carrier in either a shopping cart or i'd plug it into the Peg Perego Skate base. it was hard for me to initially justify buying ANOTHER stroller considering the price tag of our original Peg Perego Skate. but i needed something lightweight and easy to fold, something quick for errands. we finally bought it bc we were going on a trip and needed one for the airport, that we could safely check upon boarding the plane. this stroller does not disappoint. its not full of features, but it does its intended job, which is to be a nice, lightweight, easy to use stroller. i used this thing all the time, i am only using the Skate for walks outside. i love the adjustable back, and the fact that you an pull out the seat so that my baby's legs dont hang over. the basket is a good size. it would be nice to have a cup holder but so far i havent found it to be an issue. my only complaint is the sun shade. it might as well not be there. it really will only shade baby if you are outside at high noon when the sun is directly overhead. otherwise, its pretty useless. considering i am mainly using this stroller for errands/shopping, my son is only exposed to the elements going to/from the car, so its not so bad. but for what i need it to do, it does the job perfectly. did i have to spend $240 on an umbrella stroller? maybe not. my husband was more inclined to buy the $19.99 ones that are essentially disposable. it was the first time he actually protested about a purchase i wanted to make. in the end, he submitted, of course. in all honestly i didnt test out any of the other cheaper brands. i had my heart set on a maclaren. my only concern was not having a tray. so far, it hasnt been an issue. perhaps i will want one for him when he gets older. for now, i dont need it. overall, i great buy. easy to use, lightweight, looks great. very happy with this purchase. beware of tipping if you have bags hanging on it once you take baby out.

Do not buy from Maclaren!, July 10, 2009

Yes, these are very nice strollers. However, there are flaws w/ any of the Maclaren's that have light colored trim around the hood (we have the brown/ pink). When the stroller folds up the wheels touch the trim and over time the trim turns dirt colored (and over time it will just not come off). Also, Maclaren has a ridiculous policy where they will not give you replacement wheels for any reason. Unless you live nearby one of their customer service sites (the nearest one to use is in Georgia and we live in Missouri) if you damage a wheel you will be left w/ a useless stroller. I purchased a $200+ stroller not even a year ago that I have barely used and now cannot use it at all because there is minor damage to a wheel and they will not send me a replacement. Very sad.

Top Lightweight Stoller, May 8, 2009

Maclaren make some the best strollers without a doubt. The Quest is a fantastic lightweight well-made stoller. Unlike Gracos and other cheap ones which use plastic parts, the Maclaren uses metal for the important places. For example, our Graco's fold-up mechanism started to fail after several months mostly because of cheap plastic parts (at the end, it took 2 hands to collapse it). The Maclaren is so easy to use and foldup with one hand. As for space, we actually are surprised at how much storage this stoller allows (it is quite deceiving from the looks). And unlike the Graco stollers, this one easily allows you to access storage while your baby is in the stroller. The only gripe I have with the Maclaren is that it doesn't steer too well if you are using one hand (i.e., your talking on your cell phone). If you are using one hand, the stroller tends to stray towards the opposite side as you might expect because you can't push from the center being that there is no crossbar handle.

One fantastic stroller, April 25, 2009

We bought this stroller to take on an 11 day trip to Florida--7 days in Disney and a few days at the beach. This stroller was amazing. We could push it with one hand when necessary and it was easy to control. It collapses with unbelievable ease. This was a great purchase for us. The only concern we had was when we had to leave it in stroller parking at Disney. Fortunately, no one took it. We are very happy.

Best lightweight stroller for the money, April 12, 2009

I bought the Volo first but did not like the bad shade design (the mount was very flimsy and I could forsee how the shade would not stay in place any more after a few more uses). Shopped around and saw this one on sale for 30% off and got it. No regrets. Much, much better quality than the Volo. Very lightweight and great design on the shade. Truly possible 1 hand operation, I can open and fold it up carrying a 25lb baby in the other hand.

Our Sources

1. Which? Online

In its recent roundup of strollers, Which? magazine selects the Maclaren Quest as a Best Buy. It's easy to push and steer, folds and unfolds easily and has a fair amount of storage space, editors say, but its small wheels aren't suited to rough terrain. Which? magazine is an excellent review publication, comparable to Consumer Reports.

2. StrollersandPrams.com

In this extremely detailed, hands-on review (accompanied by pictures), StrollersAndPrams.com's reviewer concludes that the Maclaren Quest Sport is comfortable and easy to use, but has a small, hard-to-reach basket and a seat recline that requires two hands. Also, the writer is concerned about how children tend to slump down in the seat.
