OK overall but the harness is a nightmare, October 10, 2009

Lightweight construction, folds and unfolds without too much effort but the belts are rubbish The lap belts fold through the buckles in such a way as to make it nearly impossible to adjust, while the shoulder belts - which use a more conventional buckle and can be adjusted in seconds - are secured to the stroller only by a plastic loop which passes through a slot in the fabric. They give the impression that a good pull would tear them out. It's as if two different people designed the belts without talking to each other and without involving an actual child or parent in the process.

Excited to use this stroller, September 25, 2009

I just purchased the Volo used, it is the black model with a black canopy. I am so excited. My son is 18 months and I purchased a Jeep umbrella stroller a little over a year ago and it is just too small and narrow for my son. I read all of the review and I feel like this will be the perfect stroller for us. I'm not going to complain about the seat not reclining because that is what makes this seat so light weight and the least expensive maclaren stroller. My Jeep umbrella stroller also did not recline and my son had no problem napping in it if he was really tired. To the people wanting something for their smaller child the Jeep umbrella stroller may be an option it is very similar to the Maclaren Volo but smaller for a max of 35 lbs. My son is about 30 lbs, I really big 18 month old, so he is almost at the max. But I figure the Volo will be the last stroller I'll need to purchase.

proven champion, August 13, 2009

I bought my first Maclaren Volo as a baby shower present for my sister 4 years ago when she had her first baby. I purchased it as a fluke from a discount store for only 49.00. At the time I knew nothing about babies and strollers. All I knew was that it was unique design and for a good price. I also noticed how sturdy it looked and how functional its lightweight frame and mesh seat were in comparison to other umbrella strollers on the market. From that time on my sister was hooked on the Maclaren brand after she found it to be highly maneuverable, lightweight and sturdy in comparison to other umbrella strollers on the market. Four years later and having served three babies in my sister's family that same Maclaren is still in perfect condition having endured numerous vacations all over the country and on trips around the world. It is still in use for even her 4 year old to this very day. It is needless to say that all the strollers she owns are made by Maclaren. When it came time to have my own baby, I knew what stroller to get. I have purchased my own for a lot more than the $49.00 I paid 4 years ago but my new generation Volo is still worth every penny. You cannot even compare its lightweight and construction quality to the other umbrella strollers on the market. Every detail on this stroller has been well thought out by the manufacturer and withstands the test of time.

Straps can be changed, August 1, 2009

After researching lightweight umbrella strollers for DAYS, I went to the store to try out the Maclaren Volos and a few others. I preferred the Volo, as did my 7 month old son. However, I found truth to the reviews about the straps being too large. In fact, they are SO long (even when shortened as far as possible), I don't see what kind of 6-9 month old could possibly fit into them comfortably. I was convinced I wanted this stroller and sat in the store for an hour trying to figure out how to make it work. I wanted to share what I found...Instead of doubling the strap so that it's "as small as it will go," leave some slack. Then, fold the single strap on the top part in half and rethread over the buckle. I will admit, it is a pain, but if you have your heart set on this stroller like I did, it works. I pulled and tugged HARD to make sure they wouldn't come loose and they wouldn't. We are now doing just fine with our Volo - and while it can be time consuming to fix the straps, it doesn't happen that often! :)

Horribly disappointed, July 30, 2009

I had such high hopes for this Maclaren and I am extremely disappointed. I purchased this as a second "car/travel" stroller so I wouldn't have to haul my heavy BOB around with me. My daughter is 10 months old, 29" tall and weighs 18 lbs. Not a huge baby, but certainly not tiny. She is too small for this stroller. The arm straps, even on the smallest level, are so big on her, she slips her arms/shoulders right out of the harness. After contacting Maclaren, they said there was nothing that can be done and that maybe my daughter is just too little. Helpful, huh? I am now going to give this away and find another light weight stroller. What a waste of money.

4. Baby-Gaga.com

Baby-Gaga.com reviews strollers according to safety, convenience and comfort, based on hands-on tests and parent interviews. The Maclaren Volo earns top grades for sturdiness, maneuverability, weight and ease of cleaning, but lower marks for seating and sun protection. Unfortunately, this site loses credibility as the reviews become increasingly outdated.

5. About.com

About.com's guide to pregnancy and childbirth takes the Maclaren Volo out for a spin and praises its "vibrant colors" and "great portability." Robin Elise Weiss especially likes its 9-pound weight and soft, padded handles, but notes that it's not appropriate for newborns because of its lack of a fully reclining seat. 7. Amazon.com

Parent reviews here for the Maclaren Volo are a little misleading. There are only a handful of reviews for the 2009 version of the Volo, but you can find dozens more if you look at last year's upholstery colors.
