Good Remote For Xbox Users, November 21, 2009

About the only important feature this remote adds over the other Harmony remotes is the Yellow, Blue, Green and Red. I really liked this remote until I got a different harmony, the 880, bearing in mind the 880 is significantly more expensive, given the choice, even for xbox I would probably go with the 880. The xbox Harmony remote feels pretty decent to the hand, it programs the same as all of the other harmony remotes. My only complaints are the "clicking" of the buttons when you press them, the occasional stuck button that goes crazy and drives the volume up and the custom buttons/"green" screen aren't as easy to read as some of the other harmony remotes. HOWEVER, I wouldn't steer anyone away from this remote, it's not a bad remote, it's just not as good as some of the other Harmony options.

Powerful and Useful Product, November 20, 2009

I got one of these two years ago and have loved it! It's still going strong and was a great sub-$100 investment. Though the initial setup will take some time & effort (depending on how many devices you'll be controlling) it is so worth it. Connect the remote to a PC via usb and start by telling it what devices you own. The list of compatible devices is nearly exhaustive, so no worries there. Next you'll tell it how your devices are connected. Then the best part - programming the "activities," which are simply multiple commands across multiple devices all mapped to one single button click. For example, I created a "watch a dvd" activity. When I press the "watch a dvd" button, the remote 1)turns on my tv 2)turns on my receiver 3)turns on my dvd player 4)tunes the tv to the proper channel 5)tunes the receiver to the proper a/v inputs for my dvd player 6)selects the proper audio mode e.g. dolby dts 7)turns on my receiver's "late night listening" mode to keep the dynamic sounds from getting too loud. All this with one button press! And once you've started an activity, you get to program each and every button on the remote to control your setup exactly the way you want it to. For example, the remote's volume buttons can control the receiver while the channel buttons control the tv while the play/pause/fwd/rew buttons control the dvd player and so on. What a joy to throw 6 or 8 remotes into a drawer and let this wonderful remote replace them all! I knocked off one star for this remote because it occasionally has communication problems with the included Logitech software program. I've never been unable to get everything to work out after a few tries, but the software seems a wee bit buggy to me. Regarding the design, the remote has somewhat of a "techie" vibe with the silver on white color motif and the green backlight. I like it, but some may want something a little more subtle. Please note that even if you don't have an xbox 360 this remote is still a perfectly good choice for any user. I love mine and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful and flexible programmable universal remote at a good price.

Works great for a while, November 19, 2009

I really liked this remote when I first got it, but various buttons have slowly become unusable over about a year and a half of use. The right-hand selection on the center wheel was the first to go. Then the buttons on the right side of the display screen started to act up. The remote is still usable if you ignore the center wheel and press some buttons really hard. It just seems that you're not getting real quality for the money.

Great remote once it is setup correctly, November 18, 2009

I bought this as a replacement for the Harmony 880 which was starting to go. I was worried about the refurbished aspect but it looked brand new when i received it and everything works fine. As with all Logitech remotes, you configure the devices and activities via the computer and then sync to the remote. They have done a good job in updating their program and this is pretty easy now. You really can configure anything you if you take the time to figure out how to do it.

This Remote Rocks!, November 14, 2009

WOW! With the Logitech remote I can control everything I own. A brand new digital HD receiver from Comcast, Xbox 360, TV, and a 92' Pioneer stereo receiver. The software from Logitech is a breeze to setup via the USB cable. When you use the Activity button you can watch TV or DVD, play Music or what ever your fancy might be. You can specify that you want the volume to be controlled by your receiver for the stereo, the channels up and down for the Comcast receiver or what ever setup you might have. The best thing about the remote is the Wife absolutely loves it and has no problems going back and forth from Netflix on the Xbox to using the Media Center, or flipping back to the TV mode and watching Food Network. The other great thing I like is if something didn't turn on, you can click the help button and it will turn on the device or ask you questions about whats not working and it always fixes what ever device is not on or even TV Input being wrong. The only complaint I have with the Logitech is it doesn't have a bottle opener built in :D
