Well, it worked for a while, November 20, 2009

I was quite pleased with this at first; we actually got the TV and the DVD player to work together; never quite managed to add on the sound system, but you can't have everything, and I do tend to put off jobs like that. The ergonomics are a weird, but managable. (Why they can't have big pause / forward / backaward buttons is beyond me) The main problem is that it's become very erratic. Hitting the pause button (and I think this happens with other buttons too) acts as an off switch.

Really Nice, Easy and a large database, November 12, 2009

I saw some reviews telling the database is not good, i saw some reviews telling that URC is not a good company or has a poor customer help, could be. Trust my guys i had many universal learning remote control. I received this one today and after 15 minutes i had working 1. TV Sceptre 2. TV samnsung 3. Onkyo home theater 4. Front Row on a MAC Mini (Mac OSX) And i read the manual just to know how to enter in menu. If you can't setup this remote control in few minutes......mmmmmmmm..... may be tech things are not for you (neither tvs, cds, computers, ando so on) For the price and features and database it's the best remote that i ever had (and guys i bought sometime ago SONY remote control for u$s 300) Really I'm impressed. Ok i'm talking about today; after six months of use, i don't know, i'll tell you.

I had to return it., November 12, 2009
The remote was too hard to program. I had expert installers who said they would have to charge me $300 to program it because of the difficulty. I returned it and bought a different one.
Fantastic Remote at a Great Price, November 6, 2009

I have a universal remote that came with my Marantz receiver from several years ago that I liked. However, it is a learning remote only. So, when I upgraded my entire home theatre and all my new devices had so many more options on their remotes, I wanted something more automated. I first tried two different models of the Harmony series and both were just a pure agrevation and way overpriced. I hated the way that devices were programmed using my PC and their web site, the choices for default button configurations and the way you had to try to create macros. So, when I saw this Universal Remote Controls URC-R50 at this great price, I had to give it a try. I had been looking at this brand for some time but I was always concerned that they were strictly made for professional use and that they would be too time consuming to program. This model appeared to be geared more for the consumer and definitely has lived up to my expectations and beyond. It accepted built in codes for my Panasonic Plasma TV, Denon Receiver, Oppo DVD player, HD Cable DVR and CD changer with no problems. It also allows you to "teach it" specific button assignments within a pre-programmed device. The help menu is built in and easily walks you through setup. Creating and tweaking macros was also fairly straight forward and easy, much more customizable than the Harmony versions I tried. Plus the layout, backlight and button configuration is perfect for my usage. Overall, this is a fantastic product and I highly recommend it.

Own it Love it, November 4, 2009
I purchased this item as a last ditch effort on universal remotes. Let me just say that after owning the Kemeleon, Logitech, etc, this unit is by far 100% better then all the rest. And it just works! I would highly recommend this remote to anyone that needs to replace their remote.

7. Amazon.com

Nearly 30 reviewers give the URC Digital R50 an overall rating of four out of five stars. Most are able to easily set up the R50, but many complain that the remote ships with a short "quick start guide" instead of an in-depth user manual.
