Works..., May 31, 2009
It works as advertised. Many saftey features to prevent unauthorized access to your data. 4-stars because it is expensive for it's capacity. I guess they have to recoup their R&D for the product.
Ugly Read/Write Performance, August 26, 2008

This product works as advertised, but there are better alternatives around. BlackBox, for instance, has an equivalent in their DataTraveler. Comparing what should be close to apples and apples, I have access to both a 2GB DataTraveler and a 4GB Ironkey. The BlackBox DataTraveler is a full order of magnitude faster than the Ironkey, in my very limited testing (copying the contents of the Windows XP SP3 CD from my SATA hard drive to each of the two secure devices), a little over 3 minutes -v- over half an hour.

1. TrustedReviews.com

It's clear from this review that Ardjuna Seghers relishes testing the IronKey Secure flash drive, which is likened to a gadget from James Bond's arsenal. This review covers design and features more than performance, but Seghers concludes: "If you want a relatively cheap and portable way to make your sensitive data as secure as possible and surf the web privately and securely from almost any computer, the rugged, waterproof and fast IronKey flash drive is currently your best option."

2. EverythingUSB.com

This review, which includes lots of photos, covers the IronKey Secure in good detail. The security features are the focus here, and reviewer Zac O'Vadka says anonymous web browsing is a real plus. The drive isn't for everyone, O'Vadka concludes, nor is it meant to be.

3. Geek.com

According to anonymous reviewer "Kevin," the IronKey offers a "fantastically geeky level of security paranoia," including anonymous and secure web browsing, which is helpful if you use public computers. The reviewer wishes that interface on the password manager were better, but aside from price, that's the only quibble.

4. TestFreaks.com

Like other reviewers, Kristofer Brozio focuses on the security features of the IronKey Secure, but unlike others, he also tests file-transfer speeds. Speeds aren't very impressive, but Brozio notes that speed isn't the reason you'd buy this drive.

5. Amazon.com

Most of the three dozen users posting reviews are very positive. However, several owners say they wish they'd bought something less expensive, and several complain of software bugs. One owner notes, however, that IronKey is responsive and open about bug fixes.
