Dyson vacuums attract a lot of attention from reviewers, and we found excellent coverage of the Dyson DC18 Slim All Floors bagless upright. Both Consumer Reports and Which? magazines include the DC18 in their latest vacuum cleaner tests. For the owner's perspective, we looked at Amazon.com and Epinions.com. Reviewers say the Dyson DC18 Slim All Floors is a solid bagless upright vacuum that performs well on carpet and bare floors. The DC18 holds up well in independent testing but doesn't outclass the less expensive Kenmore Progressive 36932 (*est. $350). Still, feedback at user-review sites is consistently excellent: owners are enthusiastic about the DC18's strong suction, light weight (compared to other Dyson vacuum cleaners) and easy maneuverability. One downside of bagless vacuums in general is that it's nearly impossible to avoid some exposure to dust when you're emptying the container. For that reason, experts often recommend that asthma or allergy sufferers go with bagging vacuums like the bare-bones Hoover Tempo Widepath U5140-900 (*est. $60) or the top-rated Eureka Boss SmartVac 4870MZ (*est. $150).
