The Dyson DC24 Multi-Floor is one of the smaller upright vacuums in the Dyson line, weighing just 11.65 pounds. It has an upholstery/dust brush combination tool and a retracting handle that collapses for storage. Reviewers love the fact that the brush head self-levels when transitioning from high- to low-pile carpets or to bare floors. They're less enamored with the bagless Dyson's dust canister, however; some owners say it's hard to empty. The DC24 has a lifetime HEPA filter that must be washed in cold water on a monthly basis, and the vacuum is backed by a five-year warranty. The Dyson DC25 Multi-Floor (*Est. $400) is similar in size and price, but reviews say the DC25 is much better for removing pet hair.
We found the most comprehensive review of the Dyson DC24 Multi-Floor from ConsumerReports.org, which evaluates more than 80 upright vacuums for performance on carpet and bare floors, maneuverability, pet-hair removal and emissions. Which?, the U.K. equivalent of ConsumerReports.org, conducts similar testing of about 150 vacuum cleaners, including the DC24. However, many of the models included in this roundup aren't sold in the U.S. We found close to 1,500 owner-written reviews of the Dyson DC24 Multi-Floor at Walmart.com, Amazon.com, Target.com and Viewpoints.com.
