The Miele S7580 comes in three versions, differentiated only by color: the black Bolero, the red Tango and the silver Swing. All three offer a wide array of features, including adjustable suction, automatic height adjustment and separate motors to control the suction and the brushroll. In professional tests, this vacuum performs very well on both carpets and bare floors, and its emissions control (which includes a HEPA filter) is excellent. At 22 pounds, it's heavier than most vacuums, but it offers fairly good maneuverability thanks to Miele's patented pivoting body. The Bolero is also quieter than most upright vacuums. One drawback of this vacuum, aside from its high cost, is that Miele will not honor its warranty unless the product is purchased through an authorized Miele dealer. Among luxury vacuums, the bagless Dyson DC28 Animal (*Est. $530) gets more recommendations overall.
The Miele S7580 Bolero has been tested by ConsumerReports.org for its performance on both carpets and hard floors. The vacuum's handling, noise level, emissions control and pet-hair pickup are also rated. This vacuum is also one of the best-rated upright vacuums in tests conducted by Good Housekeeping magazine, and it is recommended at two retail sites, AllergyBuyersClub.com and Ristenbatt Vacuum Cleaner Service. We found only about 25 owner reviews for this model at Amazon.com, but they are generally positive.
