The Riccar Radiance (also sold as the Simplicity Synergy) is said to be a solid vacuum cleaner, with good cleaning ability on carpets and hard floors and features like a HEPA filter and overload protection for the blower fan motor. However, this vacuum is fairly heavy at 21 pounds, and can be difficult to maneuver. Although this has no bearing on its performance, Riccar and Simplicity vacuums are the only brands still made in the U.S. We found stronger reviews overall for the bagless Dyson DC25 All Floors (*Est. $470) and the bagging Eureka Boss SmartVac 4870MZ (*Est. $120).
Because Riccar vacuums are only sold in brick-and-mortar specialty shops, reviews of these vacuums are hard to find. ConsumerReports.org included this vacuum in an older report, but the ratings for this model are no longer available online. We did find one expert review at ConsumerGuide.com and a single owner review at Viewpoints.com. We also found an interesting professional endorsement.

Although ConsumerGuide.com's review of the Riccar Radiance focuses on its features, there's some indication that this particular model was tested. Editors say the vacuum cleans better than some competing brands but that other Riccar vacuums outperform it.

Only one user has reviewed the Riccar Radiance at Viewpoints.com; she says that she has owned this vacuum for five years. She gives it a perfect rating, saying it works "very well" and reports a positive experience with a warranty replacement.
