Waring Pro WMK300

Pros
  • Restaurant-quality construction
  • Browning controls, audible timer
  • Handle to flip the waffle
Cons
  • Makes one waffle at a time
  • Expensive
  • Durability complaints

Reviews say the Waring Pro WMK300 is a professional-grade choice for making Belgian waffles, which are thicker than standard waffles. (The bumps on the Waring Pro's surface are a half-inch deep on each side.) Note that Waring has updated this model, now the Waring WMK300A Professional Belgian Waffle Maker (*Est. $80). Both have stainless-steel exteriors with a handle to flip the waffle. Most owner reviews are positive, but we found a trend in complaints; roughly 20 percent of owners report that the Waring Pro WMK300A stops heating, apparently the result of a blown fuse. The VillaWare V2002 Uno Classic Round Waffler (*Est. $45) doesn't flip over, but it costs less and receives good reviews from experts and owners, and if you really want a flipping waffle iron, the Presto 03510 FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker (*Est. $45) also gets good reviews.

There aren't many professional reviews of waffle makers out there. However, there are more than 1,000 owner ratings combined at Amazon.com, Buzzillions.com, Cooking.com and Epinions.com for the Waring Pro WMK300. We also found a video demonstration at ExpoTV.com.
