The Nova Cruiser Deluxe 4202 is a plush rolling walker called a rollator with 8-inch wheels that users say roll well even over grass, gravel and snow. It's narrower than many similar walkers, fitting through the 24-inch doorways of most bathrooms, yet has a wide, comfortable seat with a padded, curved backrest. The backrest flips up and the walker folds more compactly than most rollators. Users call the Nova brakes reliable and easy to use, even for those with small hands.
Assembly is tool-free, and user reviews compliment Nova's warranty support and customer service -- important since walker tires, seats and brakes do wear out. For users shorter than 5 feet 4 inches, consider the Nova Cruiser Deluxe Junior 4207 (*Est. $155) that has 6-inch wheels vs. 8-inch wheels.
We found no objective comparison reviews or tests of walkers, but the Food and Drug Administration does publish a database of reports of accidents. Nova walkers aren't carried by some of the big-box stores such as Walmart and Drugstore.com, but medical supply retailer SpinLife.com hosts more than 100 user reviews of the Nova Cruiser Deluxe . We also found useful feedback at Amazon.com and Wayfair.com. YouTube has a video of the tool-free assembly of this model, and Nova's founder provides a useful video on how to choose a rolling walker, which covers more options.

This database of adverse incident reports provides information on walkers that broke or malfunctioned in ways that caused serious accidents. Although the database isn't designed for brand or model comparison, you can use it to look up the history of a walker you're considering. The frames on two Nova Cruiser Deluxe walkers broke, but we found no reports more recent than 2005 and 2006.

More than a dozen users post reviews of the Nova Cruiser Deluxe 4202, one of the top-rated rolling walkers at Amazon.com. Owners give it 4.2 stars out of 5, praising the combination of a wide, comfortable seat with an overall design narrow enough to fit through any home doorway. They say the 8-inch wheels travel well over rough terrain, and the walker is durable and easy to maneuver. One user reports a good six-year life after steady use, but another says the seat cracked after just one year. It's also a bit heavy, and there's no lock to keep it closed once it's folded.
