The Bosch HBL5450UC is a 30-inch single wall oven that performs very well in a recent independent test. It gets high marks for both baking and broiling, and it also sports a sleek stainless-steel design. The electric oven includes a convection mode; a popular feature that cuts overall cooking times and improves surface browning. Other features include a self-cleaning cycle, a warming mode and a temperature probe, which cooks meat to the correct internal temperature. The oven is backed by a one-year warranty. Users generally describe this as a well-made oven that is easy to use and clean. However, we did see a couple of complaints about reliability. One review mentions "lots of expensive computer board repairs" and another describes a wide variety of problems, including a fire in the oven. A lower-priced alternative is the Maytag MEW5530DDW (*Est. $850) , but it doesn't include many features and suffers from reliability problems of its own.
The best review of the Bosch HBL5450UC comes from ConsumerReports.org. Editors test this wall oven along with 16 other electric models. (Some of these are discontinued and similar ovens from the same manufacturer have been recommended instead.) Each oven is rated for capacity, baking and broiling. There are also a few user reviews on the site. Both ConsumerReports.org and J.D. Power and Associates conduct consumer surveys relating to wall ovens, but they don't include specific models. We also found a few user reviews at Buzzillions.com and Epinions.com.
