Whirlpool WOS51EC0A

Budget single electric wall oven

  • Excellent performance
  • Large capacity
  • Accurate temperatures
  • No convection fan
  • Noisy
  • Heats up kitchen

Bottom line

The Whirlpool WOS51EC0A is fairly basic, budget-priced wall oven. The oven offers plenty of cooking space with its full-size five-cubic-foot capacity and 30-inch width. It also performs excellently at both baking and broiling projects. It's pretty noisy, however, and lacks the convection-heating option of some higher-end models.

Annoyingly loud but very accurate. According to one professional test, the Whirlpool WOS51EC0A excels at evenly browning cakes and cookies and producing perfectly broiled burgers. Owners say the oven produces accurate temperatures and heats up quickly. Some say the fan is extremely noisy -- so much so that many ended up returning the unit. On the other hand, many owners say the noise is a minor nuisance when considering the oven's overall value. A few say the oven blows out a lot of heat from the bottom vent -- heating up the kitchen and causing the floor near the oven to get quite hot.

Full capacity. Users praise the large five-cubic-foot capacity of the Whirlpool WOS51EC0A. At 30 inches wide, it offers all of the convenience of a full-size oven but relies on Whirlpool's unique FIT System to ensure that it fits seamlessly into existing cabinet cutouts. The oven has six rack guides and comes with two racks.

Fairly basic features. The Whirlpool WOS51EC0A is fairly basic but comes with a couple of convenient features, including a hidden bake element for easy cleaning and a steam-clean option. Some users say the steam-clean option doesn't work very well, however, and a couple say that using it caused the oven to blow a fuse. The WOS51EC0A does not have convection heating but has several other settings, including Sabbath mode, delayed cooking and a keep-warm option. It's available in stainless steel, black, white and biscuit.
