If only I could just replace the washer!, July 21, 2009

We bought our Frigidaire front loader washer/dryer combo a few years ago, and I hate it! It's just my husband and I ... we don't do construction work or work on cars ... so in the normal course of everyday living our clothes become mildly dirty, yet the machine does a terrible job of getting them clean. We use the appropriate amount of liquid Tide He, water temperature is correct, we don't overload the machine, and still, more often than not I need to wash them twice. It certainly negates the water efficiency benefit of owning a front loader. If gardening gloves or cleaning rags need to soak, forget it ... there's no soaking in this machine. I know it's been mentioned in other reviews but you have to listen to us when we say the washer buzzer is out of control. I can't imagine ANY situation that would require such an intense alarm notification that your wash is ready for the dryer. I want to rip my ears off when the very LONG, very LOUD, excruciatingly PAINFUL buzzer sounds. Why can't it be like the dryer buzzer ... it's normal? By the way, everything about the dryer is exceptional. Perfect. As soon as our machine dies, whether by natural causes or by my own hand, I'll replace it with the Frigidaire top load washer/dryer combo ... like we had before I thought it was a good idea to be green.

Horrible Piece of Junk, June 3, 2009

We bought this washer/dryer combo about ten years ago, and it has been nothing but a problem after it was about two years old. We bought a Frigidaire product because our old set was about 22 years old and had seen a lot of action. Boy oh boy, have things changed. To cheapen the product, the thing doesn't have a water cleaning/recurculation system built in, so the thing doesn't always pump the water out before the spin cycle. What you wind up with is is many gallons of water in the house because the basket spins and the water has to go somewhere. Trouble is, you have to really stay close to the thing when using it so if if decides to sling water rather than pump it out, you can turn it off in mid-cycle. Isn't that convenient? What a piece of junk. We are going with a Korean-made product next time. No big deal. The folks at Frigidaire don't care.

Great product, few drawbacks, May 4, 2009

Besides the drawbacks I outline below, this is actually a great product and I am glad I purchased it. I just wish I had known about the first problem I mention. Otherwise, it cleans great, has solid options and just works well. The drawbacks. 1. The packing! Have patience and tools. This was the single most frustrating unpacking experience I have had in my life. The Incredible Hulk must have installed some of the stabilizing screws in the back. Even with proper tools I injured myself because of the pressure required to get this unpacked. A lot of the packing seemed unnecessary and it would have been best if I had had another strong person there to help. 2. People have mentioned the buzzer. It is true. It is loud and obnoxious and there is no way to turn it off. I have mine in my garage, so it is actually a good thing, but if you have children, you probably won't want to start running this after bed time. 3. The lint storm is true, but I think many dryers have this issue, but other dryers are not at face level, so it doesn't bother people. It's also worse if you are opening the door while the dryer is still going (like on the air fluff, non-wrinkle end of a cycle). Not a deal breaker at all.

Use Caution When Buying Appliances On the Internet, March 15, 2009

I am sending my Frigidare back to Amazon. Not only did it come damaged (minor, but still damaged), but I had to go out and get the three-prong 220v electrical cord that should have come with it! Large appliances, I am going to go local (Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.). Did I save money? Not really when you count the costs of delivery, $160.00, waiting almost two weeks, and then the damage and the electrical cord. Definately a waste of my money and time.Frigidaire GLEH1642FS Gallery Series 27-Inch Stacked Washer/Dryer Electric Laundry Center

Ok Machine - buzzer way toooooo loud., January 25, 2009

We bought this machine at Sears because it had decent reviews in several places of the internet. We did not really believe that the buzzer noise would be an issue like some reported. The machine itself is pretty good, washes are ok and the drying is also ok but the buzzer is just way too loud. The noise is not taken seriously until you own it. Frigidaire does not even bother to offer some sort of design adjustment, recall or whatever. The customer service had a 'too bad' attitude when we inquired about a repair or something to disable the buzzer. So if your machine is going to be inside your living space - you need to consider the noise of the buzzer which is very loud and long enough to make you hate it.
