If you have only a 110/120-volt power source rather than a 220/240, owner reviews suggest the Kenmore 88732 as an option for a stacked laundry center with an electric dryer. There's also a slightly upgraded model with a gas dryer, the Kenmore 98752 (*est. $1,070). With the electric-dryer stack, the top-loading washer and front-loading dryer cannot be operated simultaneously, according to the owner's manual. Some owner reviews indicate that buyers were unaware of this limitation until after purchase. The Kenmore 88732 is smaller than full-size laundry centers -- 24 inches wide compared with 27 inches -- and the capacity is 1.5 cubic feet for the washer on the bottom and 3.4 cubic feet for the dryer on top, about half as much as 27-inch laundry centers. It must be vented to the outside. The full-size Frigidaire GLEH1642F (*est. $880) costs a little less and has about twice the capacity, but it needs a 220/240-volt power supply.
