April 2009. The Frigidaire GLTF2940F is one of the cheapest front-loading washing machines currently on the market, but it's outclassed by the Amana NFW7200TW (*est. $650), which adds a Microban-treated door seal to reduce the chance of mold buildup. In tests, front-loaders clean better and are more energy and water efficient than top-loaders. The Frigidaire GLTF2940F has a 3.5-cubic-foot capacity with standard cycles and temperature settings. While it is not as stylish as more expensive front-loaders, it is Energy Star-rated, which means it costs less to use. Many owners report it operates quietly. The main complaint from users is that water can build up in the rubber door seal, which can cause odors, the main reason that the Amana washer gets better reviews.

More than a dozen owner reviews for the Frigidaire GLTF2940F washing machine are available at Epinions.com and Sears.com. Consumer Reports offers the only professional testing and also invites owners to rate washing machines.
