The Samsung WF448AAW is among the most highly rated front-loading washers in professional tests, and owners appear to be equally impressed with this washing machine's performance. It has a large 4.5-cubic-foot capacity and an assortment of features including steam washing, vibration-reduction technology and sound dampening. It also includes Samsung's SilverCare technology, which the manufacturer says eliminates odor-causing bacteria fungi by injecting silver ions into the rinse water. Whether because of the SilverCare technology or not, we did see far fewer complaints about mold and mildew growth in reviews for this Samsung washing machine than for other front loaders. However, we did see quite a few complaints about reliability and poor customer service from Samsung, with multiple users saying it can take weeks, or even months, to get a repair. Although it isn't evaluated by ConsumerReports.org, we found much better user reviews for another steam-equipped washer, the LG SteamWasher WM2501HWA (Discontinued).
